Margaret Keliher

Chairman, Board of Directors

A native of Dallas, Margaret holds a B. S. degree from the University of Virginia and a J. D., cum laude, from Southern Methodist University School of Law. Margaret practiced as a CPA with Deloitte and as an attorney with Jones Day, Locke Lord and the District Attorney’s office. She also served as a State District Judge before becoming the first female Dallas County Judge, charged with overseeing the Dallas County Commissioners Court. She currently is a practicing lawyer and lobbyist.

David Elliott

Honorary Campaign Chairman / Board Member

A south Texas native, David is an entrepreneur who primarily engages in real estate, agriculture, and oil and gas investments; however, he also has a strong passion for addiction recovery. David started in the recovery business in 1993, and in 1999 he founded Burning Tree Ranch. Burning Tree continues to effectively serve clients suffering from habitual relapses. David remains an active part of the recovery community by supporting several addiction-based organizations, and by launching Burning Tree Foundation, his own non-profit organization. 

Charles Kennedy

Founder / Board Member

A St. Louis native and civil engineer by training, Charles is known for visionary, out-of-the-box thinking. He built and later sold the largest U.S.-based gift and home furnishings wholesale company. He then moved to Aspen, Colorado, where he designed and developed high-end homes. Charles chaired the Aspen Community Board for Drugs and Alcohol for seven years. In 2009, he moved back to Dallas to be close to his family and to pursue Directions. He has been in active recovery since 1988.

Conor Bateman

Secretary and Legal Counsel Board of Directors

A native of Athens, Texas, Conor attended Baylor University and the University of Arkansas School of Law.  He began his legal career in Dallas before spending several years owning and operating his own firm and title company with his father in his hometown.  He is now a partner in a Dallas-based law firm, where he specializes in commercial litigation and transactions, real estate, and construction law.

Barney Carrington

Treasurer Board of Directors

A Dallas native, Barney holds a B.A. from Trinity University and an MBA from the University of Arkansas. Before retiring in 2005 he held various positions in financial planning and pubic and corporate accounting and operated a personal tax practice. Barney has been in active recovery since 1988.
